Man city vs Burnley Match Review

After a string of rocky performances, it seems Pep Guardiola’s men are finally starting to find their footing as crunch time in the season approaches, with them now unbeaten in their last 11 games.

It was a jubilant start from the blues, with birthday boy Julian Alvarez heading home a Matheus Nunes cross in the 16th minute to give them a well-deserved lead.

Only six minutes later, that lead was doubled, with Alvarez making it a birthday to remember getting his second of the night courtesy of a classic Kevin de Bruyne through ball.

While Burnely had started to get a foothold on the game, their resurgence was short-lived as City made sure this wasn’t a tale of two halves starting the second much like the first, with an early goal with Rodri curling one in from just outside the box as he has done often before.

Burnley managed to earn themselves a consolation with Ameen Al-Dakhil tapping one in following a storming run past Josko Gvardiol by David Datro Fofana.

Man city now find themselves five points behind Liverpool with a game in hand.
